DugOut Beginnings

DugOut was formed in 1992 by Cecilia Macfarlane in response to requests from parents of children in Oxford Youth Dance for similar dance opportunities for themselves.

Cecilia trained as a teacher at the Royal Academy of Dance and as a dancer at the London School of Contemporary Dance. She is an independent dance artist with a national and international reputation for her work in the community.

In September 2002 DugOut became an independent community-led organisation, run by an elected committee of members, with Cecilia acting as the regular teacher and Artistic Director.

The committee consists of members of DugOut who in addition to running the group plan future events and projects, and maintain links with other community organisations.
